COVID-19 created significant changes to the lab. Veronica, Emily, Laura, Joshua, Eda, and Carolina all started classes online and were not allowed on campus starting March 15th. Mariana & Jackson were only allowed on campus as essential personnel for limited tasks.
Dr. Reznikov asked to review grants for Cystic Fibrosis Europe and the European Cystic Fibrosis Society.

Dr. Reznikov attended the star-studded Amygdala Gordon Research Conference in Boston to promote recent work from the lab investigating the bidirectional influence of the central nervous system with the airway in disease.
July 2019
July was an exciting month for the Reznikov lab.
Jonai completed her internship and gave a dynamite poster presentation discussing her work. She will continue working in the Reznikov lab part-time this Fall to complete a senior dissertation project.
Maria Guevara finished her research in the lab and moved to the University of Michigan where she will earn her PhD in Chemical Engineering. We will miss Maria greatly and really appreciate all of her help!
Dr. Reznikov gave an oral presentation at the NIH SPARC-ISAN meeting in LA to discuss ongoing studies investigating the effects of airway acidification on mucus properties. Dr. Reznikov was also asked to join as an Editorial Board member for Physiology and Behavior.
And finally, the lab had a paper accepted that is now in press - Congrats team!!!

June has also been a busy and exciting month for the Reznikov lab. We submitted 2 grants to the NIH and a new manuscript.
Our proposal to develop a new tool for neuroscience research was selected for funding from the NIH Common Fund. Congratulations team, an outstanding accomplishment and achievement!

Maria Guevara awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship!! She will take this fellowship with her to University of Michigan--congratulations Maria!
The Reznikov Lab is excited to have Jonai Moore join the team!! Jonai was awarded a competitive internship through the University of Florida College of Medicine Summer Neuroscience Internship Program. She will conduct research in the Reznikov Lab starting May 28th-August 2nd. Welcome Jonai.

After approximately 2 years in the Reznikov Lab, Kalina's role in Dr. Reznikov's R00 project has been completed!! Kalina will be moving forward to start a Biological Scientist position in College of Pharmacy at UF. Kalina was a great team player and had a positive spirit and attitude - we will miss her. Best of Luck Kalina!!
Maria Guevara has accepted an offer from the University of Michigan Chemical Engineering program! Maria will enter their PhD program in Fall 2019 and continue working in the Reznikov Lab through the summer. Congratulations Maria!!

Dr. Reznikov attends Mucus and Mucociliary Interactions Gordon Research Conference in Tuscany, Italy. She presented work describing recent discoveries in her lab regarding the effects of acute airway acidification on mucus secretion.

Joshua Dadural makes a triumphant return to the Reznikov lab to brush off his stellar lab skills and take part in projects again. Joshua is currently a PharmD candidate at UF and spent a significant amount of time as a undergraduate researcher. We are very happy to see him back!
Kevin Vogt is accepted to East Virginia Medical School!! He will start in Fall 2019 and work towards his MD (class of 2023). Kevin graduated in Spring 2018 from UF and continued working in the lab part-time through February. He was a wonderful addition to the lab and will be missed greatly!! We are so excited for him and thank him for his hard work. Best of luck Kevin!!
